She looks like a character straight out of a mindless south Indian action drama. She is Abha Devi, a 48-year-old woman from Bihar. What makes her unique
A panchayat head in Patna district, Abha is known for a peculiarity. She fearsomely carries a pistol wherever she goes. Tying the pistol to her saree is her trademark style. When goons threaten her or her villagers with dire consequences, she wields it like a hero to strike fear in them. Abha is not trigger-happy but she can make the wrong guys believe that she can go to any extent for "justice".
Abha has been in the news over the past few days for her uncompromising style. But is it legal to carry a weapon like this, especially by a people's representative? May or may not be. But, for her people, Abha is a Lady Singham and a Revolver Rani who is a heroine of sorts.
