DMK patriarch Kalaignar Karunanidhi passed away day before yesterday at 6.10 pm. He was then buried with state honors yesterday in Marina. Despite pouring rainfall, people kept on visiting and paying their homage throughout the night and continue to. Poet lyricist Vairamuthu, who is a close friend of Kalaignar visited Marina this morning and paid his last respects.
Speaking to presspersons, Vairamuthu stated that he wasn't able to imagine a Tamil Nadu without Kalignar and asked how without the sun, there can be a dawn. “To tout Kalaignar’s praises, to take his ambitions forward, and youngsters should learn lessons from his life. He will continue to live through his literature, his discourses and his deeds,” Vairamuthu said.
Noting Kalignar’s war-like drive, Vairamuthu also stated how even people with opposing idealogies would still respect and adore his qualities. “The will that he has written for the Tamil people is self-respect and communal identity. It is the immense duty of Tamil people to safeguard the wealth that he has given us,” he said.
