Tamil film 'Anniyan' is one of the most popular southern film in the Hindi speaking regions. So it's apparent that the announcement of its Hindi remake was met with incredible excitement. Director of the original, Shankar has roped in Ranveer Singh to play the lead in this much anticipated film and now he has finalized the actress for the projects as well. Kiara Advani, who is going through a successful career run will star in the film opposite Ranveer.

Soon after the official announcement, the film landed into trouble as V Ravichandran, the producer of the original, claimed that he owns the rights to the film's storyline. However, it seems like the project is still going forward.

An excited Ranveer shared, "To lead a film like 'Anniyan' is a dream come true for any artiste. Vikram sir, one of our country's finest talents, an artiste who I hugely admire, gave a colossal performance in the original, one that can never be matched. I can only hope that my interpretation and rendition of the part also connects with audiences in the same way.
