After giving us a blockbuster success with his amazing performance in ‘URI: The Surgical Strike‘ at the box office in 2019, Vicky Kaushal has become the talk-of-the-town boy. He gives us a gripping performance with nothing barred. Looks like he has not only charmed the audiences, but the filmmakers as well. According to a report, the actor has bagged another project and is all set to essay the role of freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh in director Shoojit Sircar's next. The role was actually written for another brilliant actor, Irrfan Khan but due to his prolonged illness, it went to Kaushal. Though Irrfan is back to India he wants to start off with something less-challenging for now.
Shoojit’s next is a biopic on the revolutionary freedom fighter Udham Singh, who assasinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lt.Governor of Punjab in 1940, British India. When asked about Vicky, the director said, “If you look at Vicky's track record, he is taking brave steps and making some really fabulous choices. I wanted an actor who is ready to give his heart and soul to the film. Plus, he is a Punjabi boy and my film is a story of a Punjabi man. So, in many ways, he turned to be the obvious choice."
Vicky, who is thrilled to be working with the director said, “It's a surreal feeling because it's like a dream come true as I am finally getting to work with him. I have always been a big admirer of how Shoojit sir looks at his stories. The way he is looking at the character (Udham Singh) and the world is extraordinary as well as beautiful. Plus, it's also a big honour for me that finally, I am going to be directed by him. Honestly, that's something that will take time to sink in".
