After a serious outing in Pudhupettai, Dhanush is back to play a happy-go-lucky-youngster in Thiruvilayadal Arambam. The movie features Shriya opposite him with Boopathy Pandian wielding the megaphone.
The director had earlier teamed up with Dhanush for Devadhayai Kanden. Thiruvilayadal Arambam has five songs that are predominantly peppy and foot-tapping. Set to tunes by D Imman, they are primarily influenced by western beats.
Imman, known for his remixes, has come out with another one, that of Ennama Kannu Sowkiyamna from Rajinikanth's Mr Bharath, which has come good. Karthick and Ramjith rendering it with lot of energy. It's sure to be lapped up by Rajinikanth's fans.
The rest of the songs have been tuned to catch the attention of masses.
Ennama Kannu (Karthick, Ranjith)
This remix is the pick of the album. Imman has tried to give new sounds to the song. He has succeeded in maintaining the same momentum. With a rhythmic beat accompanying it all through, this number captivates the listeners at the first instance itself. Karthick with his vibrant voice and Ranjith in high spirit do justice to it. Whether they can pass muster as the modern version of SPB and Malaysia Vasudevan is something for the listeners to say.
Madurai Jilla Machathandi (Karthick, Kalpana)
Imman is skilled in injecting right pace in all his tunes. This duet Karthick and Kalpana is no different for it has right rhythm, peppy beats and catchy lyrics. Begins on a soft note, the song gradually gathers pace. Imman's instrumentation deserves a pat. Karthick show what a mature performer he is becoming now. There is a full-rounded feel to his approach.
Kozhi Koonjonu Kozhiyachu (Imman)
Music composers make it a point to render a piece in every album of their's. Imman is no exception. With his Anglican accent, Imman gives this number a feel-good harmony of Western and Indian instruments. The lyrics are quite simple and earthy. In a sense, the song rocks with life and energy. But there is also certain kind of deja vu.
Theriyama Parthuputten (Ranjith, Sujatha)
A good number with soft vocals and earthy musical score. Though it resembles songs in earlier Dhanush movies, the orchestration by Imman in the number deserves appreciation.
Sujata deserves a pat for her diction. She never loses her essential sweetness. Ranjith also tries hard, and succeeds, in matching her.
Kannula Yetho (Vijay Yesudas, Reeta)
A romantic song which is appealing and soul-stirring. Vijay Yesudas has sung it with such ease and elan reminding one of his father (K J Yesudas), whose voice is tailor-made for such songs. Good use of violins by Imman creates the desired impact. Job well done indeed by Imman. Also watch out for newcomer Reeta, who seems to possess immense talent.
