Back after a brief interval, Deva has proved that he can still compete with the young guns in the industry. He has come up with catchy tunes with good use of instruments creating a rural feel among the masses, quite appropriate to the movie's content.
Deva is at his best in coming up with folk tunes. Debutant director Rathnakumar does have a liking for good music and it is evident from the way he has got the songs from the music composer.
The likes of Sadhana Sargam, Anuradha Sreeram, Tippu and Naresh Iyer have sung for the album.
Poranthadhu (Deva, Tippu)
A roaring beginning to the album. Deva, known for mass songs, has proved that he still has the energy left in him to come up with such high-pitched songs. A vintage Deva, with his trade mark use of instruments has come out with a brisk song. The tune reminds one of Pothuvaga En Manasu in Murattu Kalai.
Shock Adikuthu (Anuradha Sreeram)
With Anuradha Sreeram around, what else but a peppy song can one expect? The song begins with a catchy rap, but goes on to pick the top gear as it progresses. Anuradha Sreeram renders the song with her usual elegance. But the lyrics are very ordinary. Deva has managed to fuse the western tune with a local ghaana.
Thatti Thatti (Naresh Iyer, Madhusree)
A soft romantic duet. Melodious all through, the song begins with a catchy chorus. Madhusree, in the company of Naresh Iyer, has rendered the song. Reminding one of earlier tunes of Deva, the song is sure to go down with the lovers of melodies. Shred instrumentation by Deva does the trick in the song.
Idukutana (Naresh Iyer, Madhusree)
The song is a heady cocktail of racy tune and peppy beats. The lyric does the trick oozing with romance all through. The song resembles 'Karutha Machchan' in Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu, rendered by maestro Ilayaraja. But Deva has opted for an additional rhythm and pleasant chorus in the interlude.
Koora Sella (Swarnalatha)
Begins with a pleasant nadhaswaram, the song is a perfect folk number sure to be sung in every stage. A melody, the song is soft on the ears. Re-creating the ambience of a village in the listeners, the song has uniform beat running all through with a good use of chorus in between. Swarnalatha's diction is quite amazing.
Thirumaganae (Sadhana Sargam)
The title song in the album. A flawless number, it shows the experience in Deva to come up with pleasing tunes. With good use of veena and tabla all through the song, it has soft music combining with the high-pitched voice of Sadhana Sargam to catch the listener's heart immediately. A perfect song to end the album.
