After a long-gap, Bharani is making a comeback with Thirudi.
Bharani has his own style of scoring music. Thirudi is no different from it. More in the shades of his earlier ventures like Paarvai Ondre Pothume, he has come up with easy and a simple stuff in Thirudi.
The album has six tracks with a mix of fast rhythms and melodies. Though a few of them remind his earlier tunes, the songs in the album have catchy tunes and simple lyrics.
Sujatha, Haricharan, Malathy Lakshman and Harish Raghavendar have lent their voices in the album.
Utthu Utthu Paarthaaya (Sujatha, Bharani)
A typical Bharani melody. Use of tablas and dholaks for a melodious tune, Bharani begins in style. The song begins on a slow note and the music flows on uniform throughout. Sujatha`s soft and a husky tone give the song the right mood. Sujatha's voice is always a good bet for such numbers. And she proves that once again.
Patchi Parakkuthu (Ranjith, Suchitra)
A peppy tune. Quite like his counterparts, Bharani has used all percussion instruments in this racy song. Resembling the popular Manmadha Rasa, the song is ideal one for front-benchers. Ranjith's energy levels in rendering the song deserve a mention. Suchitra is an able foil for him. The combination works. Well, at that.
Vizhikal Rendum (Harish Raghavendar, Saindhavi)
A soft number. Taking us to the Ilayaraja's romantic numbers of the 1980s, the song has catchy lyrics which can find its way to our mouths easily. With no big instruments accompanying, the song flows very smooth and is pleasant to hear. Saindhavai is one of the rare and emerging talents in the Tamil music industry. Her voice matches the moment while Harish is ever full of beans and lilt. The combination provides for intriguing listening.
Kadhal Kadhal (Haricharan)
It is about a youth's yearning for his ladylove. The strong vocals of Haricharan give it the life. After a good beginning, the song gets into a complex tune and unfortunately the momentum is lost in between and the sheen goes away. But Haricharan impresses with his sturdy vocals.
Sandakozhi (Malathy Lakshmanan)
Just the name of Malathy is enough to guess what kind of number it would be. A peppy and a racy tune inspired by gaana numbers. The music is heavy and the racy tune does not go hand-in-hand with it. However one is left wondering at the amazing energy level of Malathy Lakshman after listen the song.
Teen Age Vayasu (Haricharan)
Bharani goes the Yuvan's way here. Any music album is incomplete without a fusion. Here too, he has tried to fuse western electric with classical music. He has managed to come out successfully. The song is catchy and the mild music accompanying the lyrics make it clicks.
Bharani has got the dynamic right, on the whole.
