Are theatres going to be shut down in Telangana in anticipation of a third wave? This is the question many are asking, especially after Delhi has shut them down and several States have imposed the 50% occupancy rule/night curfews.

In this regard, an important statement has come from Dr G Srinivasa Rao, who is the Dictor of Public Health, Telangana. On Thursday, he was quoted by TNIE as saying this: "We have asked people to wear a mask on mouth and nose, not eyes. Go ahead and watch films safely wearing a mask."

This is an indication that cinema halls won't be shut down anytime soon.

Rao said that a third wave is inevitable. Assuring that Telangana is well-prepared to tackle the wave, the top official also warned of the possibility of the situation turning very serious. "Let's suppose Omicron is a bit milder than the Delta variant. It means 10% of all infected could develop severe symptoms and might need hospitalization in lakhs in the country," he added.
