They respected me, but our own Telugu people don't: Lakshmi Manchu

Lakshmi Manchu is hurt at the way a news anchor recently bad-mouthed some women of the film fraternity.
"The other day, my father happened to see a baseless rumour about me on some site. He called me up and asked me to put the record straight. I told him it won't help as someone else will come up with some other rumour in future. We argued for an hour. I know how much it pains to argue like way with a father," the Manchu lady says.
"When I was in Hollywood, I was treated with respect by the people there. It's our own Telugu people who say crap about me," she remarks emotionally.
"Some websites resort to sensationalism for clicks. If you click on the video, there is nothing unusual there. You make a livelihood by writing about our lipstick, clothes, etc," she comments.
"Had Dasari uncle been alive, he wouldn't have kept quiet today. Where is the Press Club? Why are they not slamming the news anchor? Do you keep quiet when you are abused?" she asks.
"We campaign for politicians at the time of elections. Yet, no politician has come to support us today," she adds.
