‘They Call Him OG’: Pawan Kalyan’s First ‘A’ Certificate Film in 14 Years

Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited action drama They Call Him OG has finally received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate, making it the star’s first adults-only release in
14 years, since Panjaa (2011).

However, the clearance did not come without significant edits. The Examining Committee (EC) ordered seven cuts, removing or modifying nearly 1 minute and 55 seconds of violent content.

According to the details:

Close-up visuals of amputations and beheadings, lasting 9 seconds, were removed.

A 1-second hammering shot was censored.

In two lodge sequences, close-up shots of violence and a hand amputation totaling 62 seconds were axed.

A child shown in a pool of blood was digitally modified.

A shot of a police official unzipping his pants was altered.

A 3-second neck-stitching scene was removed.

A 40-second violent close-up sequence was deleted.

After these modifications, They Call Him OG was cleared with a final runtime of 154.15 minutes (2 hours, 34 minutes, 15 seconds).

Meanwhile, the film’s promotional event, held on September 22 in Hyderabad, created buzz even in the absence of the trailer, which was withheld due to unforeseen reasons. Pawan Kalyan captured attention with his warm remarks about co-star
Emraan Hashmi, calling it “the ultimate chance to work with Emraan.” He even referenced the actor’s iconic Bollywood number Jhalak Dikhla Ja and praised his performance in the film.

In response, Emraan Hashmi shared a video on social media expressing his delight at collaborating with Pawan Kalyan on such a high-profile project.

With the censor formalities now complete, anticipation for They Call Him OG has reached new heights as fans eagerly await its release.
