Kollywood star Sarathkumar's daughter, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, has said that some critics in the media world are paid. 'Echcharikkai', a Tamil crime thriller starring her, didn't receive a thumbs-up from sections of media when it hit the screens in August. However, the film has been doing well at the box-office.

Thanking those review writers who wrote an honest critique of her movie, Varu (as she is called fondly in short) noted in a Twitter statement that some "paid reviewers" write "crappy reviews" if you don't pay them.

She further said that some of the critics work for certain stars! Instead of reviewing the film, such critics actually talk about trivial and irrelevant aspects like an "actor's make-up", she suggested. Varu is one more celebrity who has spoken a home truth about the critics' community.

She awaits the release of Vishal's 'Pandem Kodi-2', which will hit the screens on Oct 18.
