With several family members of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy demanding huge amounts of monetary compensation, 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh' director Harish Shankar has made sharp comments. The director said that the aim of some people is to push the makers of 'Sye Raa' to the corner just ahead of the film's release so that they (the makers) can be pressurized to concede their unfair demands. "This is a new trend we are seeing," he added with a touch of anger.
"Honestly speaking, I had never heard about Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy before Chiranjeevi garu decided to act in a movie based on his life. Narasimha Reddy was a great man but our generation doesn't know anything about him. Had I been a descendant of that great man, I would have washed the feet of Chiranjeevi garu and Ram Charan for making his name popular and trying to bring recognition," Harish Shankar said.
"When Attenborough made 'Gandhi', did us Indians stand up and say that we need compensation because Mahatma Gandhi is the Father of the Nation?" he asked.
