Notwithstanding the verdict of a special CBI Court today acquitting DMK’s Rajya Sabha M.P. and former Union Telecom Minister A. Raja in the multi-crore 2G Spectrum scam, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley reacted to the verdict by stating that he still believed that there were many irregularities in the allocation of spectrum frequencies.
“2G auction held after the allegations revealing corruption about the allocation of frequencies is indicative of the fact that a scam had taken place. The biddings fetched more money to the Govt. than the one allocated during the 2-G scam period.
“Congress and other party leaders have been hailing and celebrating the verdict as if was a statement on their integrity and honesty. It may be recalled that the Supreme had, way back in 2012 itself, observed that there were many irregularities in allocation of 2G frequencies to telecom operators,” he said.
On another note, he said that the verdict would be reviewed by the CBI which might soon take a decision on filing an appeal with the apex Court against the verdict.
