Dr. G Srinivasa Rao, the Telangana Director of Public Health, has said that the situation in the State could become dire if the present rate of growth in Covid cases continues. In a video message addressed to the people of Telangana, he said that there is a paucity of beds to an extent.
"The caseload is expected to increase for the next 4-6 weeks. If this continues, we will be in a similar situation that is prevailing in Maharashtra. No matter how many beds are added to the existing capacity, it may not be adequate," he said, warning the public against covid inappropriate behaviour.
"If the government has not imposed a lockdown or curfew, it's not because the situation is not serious. It's because a lockdown will result in economic hardships. Please be careful. The virus is highly infectious. It's spreading wildly. If one member of a family gets infected, others will contract the virus within hours in a closed environment," he added.
