In a shocking incident, fanboys of Prabhas celebrated the re-release of the classic action movie 'Billa' (2009) on October 23, which was the pan-India superstar's birthday. A cinema hall named Venkatarama Theatre in Tadepaligudem in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari witnessed uncontrolled fireworks when the film was being screened.
After the fans thoughtlessly burnt crackers inside the theatre, the fire broke out, resulting in the gutting of several seats. Fire fighters were pressed into action. As the fire started spreading, the fans rushed out of the theatre. Panic was visible.
Ram Gopal Varma documented the incident in his own style. "No, it’s not a Diwali celebration. It’s the madness of Prabhas' fans celebrating by burning a theatre while his film is running on the screen (sic)," RGV wrote.
In the past, screens were torn by enthusiastic fans during the re-release of certain movies. But the fire accident is the most dangerous one to have taken place due to the over-enthusiasm of fans.
