The strike by the theater owners of Tamil Nadu enters the fourth day today as no positive solution was reached on Wednesday. Yesterday. Abirami Ramanathan of Tamil Film Chamber of Commerce had hoped that a solution will be arrived post noon but that did not happen through out the day.

Now the theater owners, producers and distributors who have already met the TN State Ministers including the Chief Ministers twice and placed their demands are now waiting for a call from the government for the next round of talks.

The theater owners want the 30% Entertainment tax on Tamil films apart to be repealed or the Government should allow the ticket rates to be hiked up to Rs.200/-.

Many theaters across the state were hoping for a positive solution at least yesterday so that they can open advance bookings for the coming weekend. Now that has become impossible. The theater owners who have already suffered huge losses due to the shut down on weekdays are at the brink of losing out on the weekend also.

This is the first time in the history of Tamil cinema, that the theaters remain closed for these many days. Many new Tamil films that were scheduled to hit the screens Tomorrow (July 7) have now postponed there release due to the strike. This will have a cascading effect on the films scheduled to hit the screens in the forthcoming weeks.
