The trailer of Kabir Khan's ambitious sports drama '83' is finally out and it has surpassed all the expectations. In this cinematic adaptation of India's historic 1983 World Cup victory, the director has succeeded in creating an atmosphere that resonates with all the cricket fans and takes them to the era of early 80s when a team of promising yet underrated players faced the two times world champions and came out victorious.
The trailer introduces team India as underdogs of the tournament who themselves didn't have any hopes of winning the title. It further shows how despite being outmatched in several departments and facing cultural challanges, the team led by Ranveer Singh's Kapil Dev goes the distance and brings the cup home.
Ranveer Singh looks unrecognisable as his character and he also perfectly replicates the voice and talking style of Kapil Dev. Other cast members have also done a lot of research and homework to play their characters as accurately as possible. The casting for West Indies players is also totally on point.
Sharing the trailer on his Instagram account, Ranveer Singh wrote, "The incredible true story of the underdogs who pulled off the unthinkable."
