Suryavamsham, Kushi, Gharshana, Yuvasena, Lakshmi Narasimha, Tagore, Naa Autograph, Letha Manasulu...
The list looked endless.
If you are wondering what the list is all about, well we are talking about the Telugu films that were remade from Tamil not long ago.
In fact many serious followers of Telugu cinema were pained that this remake syndrome plagued the industry. It was killing all the local creativity, was the general verdict.
Now the tide seems to have turned.
Far from mindlessly copying Tamil films, now Telugu films are being sent to Tamil.
Arya, Student No 1, Okkadu, Simhadri, Varsham ...all these films have either been remade in Tamil or in the process of being re-made.
As usual, M S Raju, the man who is on a golden streak, has set up the trend. His Okkadu was made as Ghilli. His Varsham as Mazhai and now there takers for his latest Nuvvovastanante Nenoddantana.
But Tollywood honchos are not ready to rejoice. They say that such phenomenon are quite regular in the Indian film industries. There is nothing to feel good or feel bad about it all.
The truth of the matter is remakes are here to stay, one way or the other.
