The current talk-of-the-town trailer is none other than the Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial political drama ‘The Tashkent Files’. The movie is based on the true events of our second Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri’s death. It revolves around the conspiracy theories and inquiry committee, which investigates the death of the late PM.
Shastriji had succeeded Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as PM in 1964 and died on January 11, 1966 in Tashkent. For the unversed, he died a day after he had signed the Tashkent Declaration Agreement - a peace treaty between India and Pakistan following the Indo-Pak war in 1965. His death is someway connected to Subhash Chandra Bose’s death. The director stated, ““On January 10, 1966, Shastri had signed the Tashkent Agreement and hours later he died. A death mystery unsolved to date. Was it a heart attack or poison? The truth of the biggest cover up has been denied to his family and us.” Watch now -
The film also features Shweta Basu Prasad, Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi. Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi, Ankur Rathee and Prakash Belawadi in th elead roles. The film is all set to hit the screens on April 12, 2019.
