The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J.Jayalalithaa's demise created widespread speculation on the cause of her death among the political class and the general public. Keeping this in mind, the state's present Chief Minister E.K Palaniswami promised an enquiry into Jayalalithaa's death on August 17.

Now, the state government has instituted an inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of the High Court. " An inquiry commission headed by a retired High court judge, Justice Arumugasamy is instituted to probe and submit their report their findings on the death of former chief minister J.Jayalaithaa," an official release from the government stated.

It is expected that the formation of this commission will bear fruit by clearing the air of mystery and conspiracies surrounding Jayalalithaa's death.
