The 'Purampokku' That Arya and Vijay Sethupathi Are In

In general, Purampokku is a word used to demean others, overlooking the way the term was coined. In actual meaning, Purampokku stands for that (land) which does not belong to any specific entity and is common to all. To take it in the literal sense, there are a variety of common properties - Purampokku - like the lakes, mountains, rivers, air, etc. Over the years, these have been modified for public welfare, by the government, constructing schools, hospitals, public amenities, cordoning off cemeteries, etc.

However, the common properties are misused by miscreants in the recent past, by falsely acquiring such Purampokku lands and writing it off to themselves or someone trusted. This is precisely where the story of the National Award winning director, SP Jhananathan lies. Revolving around one of the most disturbing social injustice, the director, of 'Iyarkai', 'Ee' and 'Peranmai' fame, Jhananathan is geared up about rolling out his next film, 'Purampokku'. Starring Arya and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, the director assures that their casting will be like nothing before in Tamil cinema so far. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the film will be shot predominantly in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh/Telangana and Chennai.

Speaking on the project, Dhananjayan, Chief, Business, South - Disney UTV said We are delighted to roll out this project with the nationally acclaimed and intelligent director Jhananathan. We are happy to have the young and energetic heroes Arya and Vijay Sethupathi on board. With the sure shot formula for success at hand, we are confident of yet another cherished success story from the house of Disney UTV. The film is canned Ekambaram while VT Vijayan has been roped in to be the editor. Rest of the cast and crew information, including that of the heroine, has not yet been finalized. The film is in the pre production stage and is likely to go on the floors by October/November this year. With everything in place, the movie will hit the screens in April/May 2014. Currently UTV has two films in its bag, for release - 'Ivan Vera Madhiri' and 'Sigaram Thodu'.

Naming and title of Tamil movies have gone a long way. Though a lot of research goes into making the title sound right for the story, as well as appealing to the audience, many titles are remembered for their out-of-the-box quirky everyday meanings and usage.
