The other face of Rohini

If you thought ÂRaavanan was the first film for Rohini as a dubbing artist, think again. For the actressÂs dubbing career started almost two decades ago, when Mani Ratnam asked her to lend voice to the female lead character in ÂIdhayathai ThirudadheyÂ.
From then, Rohini has dubbed for most Mani movies, including ÂBombay (Manisha Koirala), ÂIruvarÂ, ÂGuru and ÂRaavanan (for Aishwarya in all the three films). ÂIt was Mani Ratnam who identified my potential as a dubbing artist, she says.
Not just that, Rohini has dubbed for female lead characters in films by other directors too. She was the one who lent voice for Jyothika in ÂVettaiyadu Vilaiyadu and for Manisha Koirala in ÂIndianÂ.
But she is not so happy to receive the compliment ÂYou have done a good jobÂ. ÂA dubbing artistÂs success is to make the audience believe it as the characterÂs voice. They should not identify who you are, Rohini explains.
