It is not only one of the greatest prospects to play mother to a legendary actor but also something out of the box. Especially for Vidya Balan who is half the age of Amitabh Bachchan. ‘Paa’ where Vidya plays a mother to 13-yr old, Progeria-affected Big B is waited upon by one and all for its release this week. The charming lady initially was said to be apprehensive to play a mother’s role. Later once she stepped on to the sets, the maternal instincts in her awakened, revealed the actress. Said Vidya, “Initially I just could not believe that it was happening, I am playing mother to Amitabh Bachchan. It was surreal, but then it became addictive because Mr Bachchan is so convincing as the 13-year-old Auro. I could connect with him as Auro's mother.”

But come 'Ishqiya' – her next project, one may see a totally different Vidya here. In this directorial debut of Abhishek Choubey, the actress plays Krishna - a foul mouthed widow of UP, wooing two rogues, played by Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. From shy Bengali girl in ‘Parineeta to a dirty outspoken girl in 'Ishqiya', Vidya brings in complete transformation here something one wouldn’t have expected from her.

“I know it's going to shock people but I thoroughly enjoyed playing the bad girl in the film. It is the kind of role that I have wanted for a long time and the fact that I was the first choice for it was a surprise for me too. There is an underlined sexual aggressiveness about the character and she speaks her mind,” stated Vidya.

Well… so people, let’s sit back to watch the seedhi-saadhi Vidya in ‘Paa’ which releases this 4th, before we move over to see a hatke Vidya in 'Ishqiya'.
