Maharashtra was once again found to be the most corrupt state in India according to the National Crime Records Bureau data released yesterday. Disappointingly, this is the third consecutive time that the state has topped the ranklist for the wrong reason.
The NCRB data revealed that last year alone about 1,016 corruption cases were registered in the state. The data also disclosed that the state of Odisha took the second spot for the most corrupt state with only half of the corruption cases filed in Maharashtra. Odisha’s corruption cases count stand at 569 for the last year.
On the crime front however, the nation’s capital Delhi also seems to be the crime capital with 40% of reported rapes, 33% crime against women. Maharashtra has joined the list in the third spot for the most crime cases registered in 2016.
