'The Kashmir Files', the Hindi-language film that chronicles the events leading up to the Hindu ethnic cleansing in Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s, hit the screens on March 11. As per Netizens, the film should be watched without fail for its narrative prowess and the socio-political relevance it has.
Netizens are saying that the film needs to be watched by all Indians if we want to safeguard the plurality of our country. The depiction of the truth as it is, is praiseworthy. "Some people have a problem with reel violence in 'The Kashmir Files'. They talk about empathy and fail to see the reaction of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits who saw the film - cried their hearts out and thanked the makers. Sometimes - the truth needs to be told as it is," wrote Abhi and Niyu.
Commenting on the movie, journalist Aditya Raj Kaul wrote, "The film is spreading awareness nationally and globally about the Kashmiri Hindu exodus and genocide from Kashmir like never before. Everyone must watch this film. This is our history. History of injustice, silence, discrimination and bias by media and intellectuals."
Not just from Netizens and journalists, the film is receiving support from politicians as well. BJP MP Rajyavardhan Rahore wrote, "Depicting the Kashmiri Hindu exodus and genocide, #TheKashmirFiles is a must-watch. It's a tale that must be told. Society is better prepared for the future if they know about the past." Haryana is one of the States that has made the film tax-free.
The team of the film met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The PM appreciated them for making such a film. Producers Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri are thrilled about it.
