'The Kashmir Files': BJP attacks Arvind Kejriwal

'The Kashmir Files' has netted Rs 200 Cr at the box-office. And the film is in the news for a new controversy stoked by a comment made by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

On Thursday, addressing the Assembly, Kejriwal condemned the BJP for demanding tax-free status for the Bollywood movie in Delhi. If you are so concerned, why don't you ask director Vivek Agnihotri to upload 'The Kashmir Files' on YouTube? Everyone will be able to watch it for free, Kejriwal said. His party's MLAs supported the remarks by laughing and thumping tables.

The BJP has given a counter. BL Santhosh said that Taapsee Pannu's 'Saand Ki Aankh' was given tax-free status by the Delhi government in 2019. In 2016, the AAP government had given a similar status to a film starring Swara Basker. Why didn't you ask them to release the movies on YouTube? asked the BJP functionary. There is a view that AAP favours the anti-BJP and pro-AAP artists/filmmakers. On the other hand, critics of BJP are saying that the party is favouring pro-BJP filmmakers.
