After battling the challenge from 70 other guys, Pratik Motwani finally managed to get the job of dubbing for the protagonist Jamal's role for the Hindi version of 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

What followed was a sweet and bitter experience that has given Pratik several memories to cherish and learn.

The greatest moment for Pratik was when the director Danny Boyle came and told him that he had done a great job.

The English version of the film did not needed to be dubbed as sync sound technology through which the dialogues are recorded as and when the shot is taken was used.

That proved to be the greatest challenge for the 21 year old Pratik.

When the dialogues are recorded as the actor says his dialogues during the shoot, the emotions of the characters are absorbed in a better way.

So Pratik had the additional responsibility to imbibe the quintessence of the scenes as well as to understand the emotions of the characters.

As the film was very performance oriented, Pratik's experience as an actor with the Avikal theatre group came handy.

He acted each scene to get a better grip before doing the dubbing.

The first most difficult task was dubbing for a scene in which Jamal says,

"I wake up every morning in hope that I don't know the answer to that question".

The dialogue in Hindi was longer than the English version and as it was a close up shot, getting the perfect lip movement proved to be a great difficulty.

But that problem was solved by Loveleen Tandon who had written all the Hindi dialogues and was also the casting and co-director of the film.

She came up with a shorter dialogue and asked Pratik to say it quickly.

The second challenge came when one of the scenes in which the police is shown torturing Jamaal Malik had to be dubbed.

Pratik had to fill up his mouth with water and dub the scene in which Jamal 's head is immersed into a bucket of water and asked certain questions regarding his unexpected triumph in the reality show.

Pratik who lives at Chembur in Mumbai is graduate in Electronics and Telecommunication and wants to become a well known actor.
