The Forbes 2019 List of top paid athletes in the world features some of our favourite sportspeople. The list which was released on June 11th, has Lionel Messi at the top with $127 million. Followed by him is Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo at $109 million. The only woman at number 63 is tennis player Serena Williams. The disparity in earnings which seems to be indicated is sad. It is also surprising to note that only one cricketer from around the world has made the list.

It is none other than current Indian Captain Virat Kohli. The ICC number 1 ranked batsman is placed 100 in the list with $4 million from salary and winnings and $21 million from endorsements. While he was placed at number 83 last year, he has now moved 17 places to number 100. More than his spot in the list, it is surprising that he is the only cricketer who is featured.
