The modern era seems to be not only the era of Social Media revolution but also the era of fake persons and fake celebrities revolving in social networking space. Though many Kollywood celebrities have entered the social networking space, a good number of others still prefer to keep them at bay. However there are people who exploit the absence of these celebrities and create their fake id`s in Twitter or fake profiles in Facebook.
The most recent Film Industry celebrity to be affected by a person with this Fake id` syndrome is veteran director K.Balachander. A few days a Twitter account was opened in the name of K.Balachander and it looked very much real. Within few days the account got 1473 followers and the accountholder followed 260 people in Twitter. However the messages uploaded in the guise of words coming out the octogenarian director`s mind made people feel something fishy. That led someone to contact K.B`s personal assistant Mohan who clarified that the veteran filmmaker is not present in Social Media.
A fake Id was opened in the name of another senior director cum actor Visu who incidentally happens to be the erstwhile assistant director of Balachander. Visu has also clarified that he is not that internet savvy to use social networking sites and he visits the net space only to check emails. He has also said that looking forward to take legal action against those who opened a fake Id in his name.
A few months back a fake id in the name of ace filmmaker Mani Rathnam entered Twitter. First it was believed to be the true one and only after a few weeks it was confirmed that the man of limited words does not have a social media presence.
Another popular actor, comedian cum film critic Bosskey also fell prey to the activities of these cheap minds who create fake id to gain popularity using someone else`s name. Bosskey wishes to clarify yet again that he is not in Twitter and cautions his fans to not believe the id surfacing with his name.
