The element of 96 in Majili and Jersey

Three upcoming films, to be released later this year, are going to boast of 1990s backdrops. And two of them star Samantha Akkineni as female lead. We are talking about 'Majili', 'Jersey' and the remake of the Tamil hit '96'.

Since '96' (original version) is the first of these movies to be released, it has to be seen as the frontrunner. The film told the love story of a guy (Vijay Sethupathy) who fails to express his love for his crush (played by Trisha) in 1996. They are destined to meet once again years later. This rekindles the dormant emotions and a love story comes to the fore.

In 'Majili', Naga Chaitanya's character falls in love with a girl (played by Divyansha) in the 1990s. Many years later, he still lives with her memories. But there is a new woman (played by Samantha) in his life now. In 'Jersey', Nani's character is placed in two time periods: in the 1990s and in the contemporary period.

What is common to '96' (whose Telugu remake stars Samantha and Sharwanand), 'Majili' and 'Jersey' is that they are all set in two periods, the first being the 1990s.
