The Eight Iconic Rajini-isms
As Rajinikanth turns 66 today, IndiaGlitz takes stock of the eight iconic Rajini-isms that are monstrously popular in the Telugu States, as much as they are in Tamil Nadu.
Here they go.
Basha
That iconic walk is still evergreen. It will always be. It's as if the don is bulldozing his way with his stylish walk. Non-pareil.
Peddarayudu
As he directs the cigar into his mouth from a reasonable distance, we all know he has given the verdict just once, but it's as if he has given it one hundred times. After 'Basha', he doesn't have to say it.
Mutthu
As he reshuffles the cloth, Rajini swoons Meena off his feet. That's more than heroism.
Arunachalam
Taking diktat from God and confessing to carrying it out, is such a sexy thing here. When he says it in a film, it's as if the real Rajini is speaking through the character.
Narasimha
'Naa dari, raha dari'. Rajini almost scorches Nilambari's heart with this. In another scene, she is tempted to ape his style. Like legions of his fans.
Baba
The mannerism this time carries philosophical underpinnings. The nuanced upping of the little and index finger, we mean.
Shivaji
The 'gundu boss' style has the audience in splits. For a change, it's not meant to send shivers down the spine or swoon someone or philosophize. Enough said.
Kabali
The self-referential 'Kabali ra' is second to none. With just this style, he had unprecedented BO openings. Just goes to show the legend he is.
