Hollywood teenage blockbuster, 'The Duff' which garnered some great reviews in the U.S. is all set to release in India on 5th June, 2015. The movie was adapted from the novel by the same name written by Kody Kiplinger which too was a smash hit. When the word got out that a movie is being adapted from the best seller there was an absolute frenzy among young actresses to bag the lead role and hoards of fresh talent and established actresses tried for the role.
The characters of the film 'The DUFF' are very relatable for most teens who read the book especially the lead character of Bianca.
Among the many talented actresses that auditioned for the role of Binaca, Bella Thorne made it to the final cut. The gorgeous actress has been seen in many productions on the small screen as well as 70 mm. She also starred in the hit film Blended starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
The producers and the casting team were very impressed by Bella`s performance but she did not fit the profile that the creators had in their mind. But as fate would have it, The producer, Josh A. Cagen was in no mood of letting go this great talent. Her audition and the need gap in the screen play came together to create the antagonist of the plot, Madison The Mean Girl`. As expected Bella did an exceptional job playing the character.
"This is something that Ari and I worked on because we knew we wanted some type of antagonist" says Cagan. "But we really didn`t want Madison to be a mustache-twirling, tie-Bianca-to-the-tracks type of villain. That said, she is a mean girl who believes she is doing high-school right and everybody else is doing it wrong. She kind of sees life as though she were a 30-year-old who has been unjustly sentenced to go to high school with all of these children - the indignity! But Madison, like everyone else, is equally insecure so her attitude is her defense mechanism." concludes Cagan.
Bella Thorne has a track with Robbie Amell`s character (Wesley) who turns out to be Binaca`s (Mae Whitman`s) coach when Bianca embarks on the journey to unDUFF herself. The movie is set to release on 12th June 2015.
