The much anticipated Family Man 2 was finally released yesterday and to the directors words the series have been gaining positive reviews from all over the country and especially from the south. The first season ended with the death of two terrorists and the harmful gasses still leaking out of Orion chemicals. Season two has turned out to be even more intense and fast paced. Though the story line is a sensitive nerve to touch, the script has made justice and lay neutral without hurting anyone's pride and ego weakening the controversies around the series
Though season 2 just like season 1 has many characters the cast have did their best to do justice to their role. The story opens with a war scene where numerous people are killed without humanity and the scenes that follow are rightly placed to ensure adrenaline rush. Tiwari becomes a IT dood just to please his wife and family but feels unbelonging to the environment he is stuck in. Though he is troubled with his personal life he sets out to Chennai to solve a case which is a "matter of national security".
The story shifts between Chennai- Mumbai-London- srilanka- and France. Speaking about the cast the main characters were retained and Samantha Akkineni joined the cast to make her OTT debut and it turned out to be a great shot to start with. Samantha has lived as Rajii and some of her scenes bring us absolute goosebumps. She has adapted herself to portray an Eelam Tamil girl and has done it with ease. The fight scenes of her makes us believe that she is a trained professional.
On the other hand Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani who played the role of Tiwari and Suchi are also a part of season 1 contributed just the perfect amount to give life to the story line. The series is filled with emotion, love, sentiment, rage and revenge. The character Major Sameer is also seen with new plans to execute.
The screenplay is near flawless and the execution with the drone shots and closeups must be applauded as they manifest perfection. The close up scene of Samantha during her transformation and the raising background score to cope with the intensity of the scene are one of the best example to quote. Though the series is originally made in Hindi, the efforts to keep the story real by having the South Indians and Sri Lankans speak their mother tongue rather than Hindi is appreciable.
Some humor elements which added to the flow, like Tiwari making up stories to breakdown accused, his son playing instruments and trying hypnosis were also present. There were also some flaws and cinematic liberties like, the flight chase looks exaggerated and the defence minister dipping his biscuits in the tea made no sense towards the end.
Editing played a major role in building anticipation and tense in the scenes and to keep audience engaged. The music made a great difference to the story without which the series might become bland. The background score fits the screenplay just as it should be, never more or never less.
There are also few scenes which the viewers cannot afford to miss like the transformation scene of Rajii and her wholesome dialogue, the emotional scene between Tiwari and his daughter. The base camp scenes, fight sequences and gun shots are treat to the viewers.
To conclude, Family Man 2 is an absolute binge watch with neat story line, perfect cast and excellent portrayal of characters. Though the story picks speed only after third episode it never failed to fullfil the expectations created over it.
