The Riddler also seems to play a cat and mouse game with him leaving him clues in his postcards full of riddles and the superhero also needs to use his detective skills to get to the serial killer.
There are a lot of changes that can be seen including the tone of Gotham City, the bat suit, the Batmobile and the narrative style.
'The Batman' is directed by Matt Reeves of Planet of the Apes films fame with Robert Pattinson donning the bat suit for the first time in his career taking over from Christian Bale and Ben Affleck in the recent past. Paul Dano plays Batman's arch-nemesis The Riddler with Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
