Film director arrested for GST fraud of 34 Crores

Ever since the Goods and Service Tax (GST) has been implemented there have been mixed response to it but over time businesses and proffessionals have started to get used to it. However one section of the population are also using GST to loot money and the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGSTI) in Mumbai have arrested a film director for fraud of at least Rs 34 crore.
Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has produced and directed 'The Accidental Prime Minister' starring Anupam Kher as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He has created fake invoices for 34 Crores from an animation company which has been involved in GST fraud of 170 Crores.
Vijay Gutte's VRG Digital Corp has also wrongly claimed a cash refund of Rs 28 crore from the government against CENVAT (Central Value Added Tax) credit received for these fake invoices since July 2017 according to the New Indian Express. He has been arrested and lodged at the Arthur Road Jail till August 14th.
