After Fazil's Aniyathipravu, we haven't really had a college love story. Of course, we have come across many love stories, but not the romance of youngsters. Thattathin Marayathu is a true college love story. "It is a simple, romantic story and we sincerely hope that this romantic story is going to attract all. It is based in Thalassery where I originally come from and I am more comfortable when the stories are set there" A romantic flick is what my generation would love to watch over and over....These are some of the observations that Vineeth Sreenivasan made before presenting his new movie 'Thattathin Marayathu' to theatres.Yes, definitely a case of clearly marking the potential target audience before the project, the movie which is an innocent musical love story, works good specially for its targeted viewers. Though it lacks depth, its stylish narration and fine performances are something that goes in its favour. Set in a small town in Thalassery with all that true accents and local specialities, the movie has Nivin poly as Vinod Nair , an average student from a middle class Hindu family who falls head over heels in love with a beautiful girl named Aisha (Isha Talwar). Hailing from a wealthy and influential Muslim family, Aisha is in effect at the other end of the lifestyles that Vinod owns, who with his poor family, and leftist ideals are at impossible odds for a love and happy life with Aisha. But the surprise comes in the form of no big conflicts, as all of a sudden we realize that Aisha, with a modern outlook living in an orthodox household is also smitten by love for Vinod for no particular reasons. The movie loses its intensity as it progresses and ends up as a typical teenage love story. |
