Thatsamayam Oru Penkutty
Reality shows has become the most demanded programmes on television screen, subsiding the effects that year long tele-serials had on its viewers. More and more channels are coming up with fresher ideas and concepts that invariably become the themes of innumerable reality shows that are continually enjoying popularity in India.
After creating no so good critical acclaim but a popular hit with the last movie -the remake of 'Rathinirvedham', director T K Rajeevkumar is now back to create one movie centred on this novel theme and experiences of a reality show.
Titled as 'Thatsamayam Oru Penkutty', this women centric film will have Nithya Menon leading the cast in the title role. She is presented as a village girl, carefully selected from a group of 12 after many auditions, which finally become the theme of a reality show. The camera crew follows her all around recording her days and acquaintances for a month to feed the hunger of the reality longing audiences. Nithya's character will also gets transformed with the continuous media attention that she gets following her continuous appearances in the show.
Unni Mukundan, the most promising entry into Mollywood this year, will appear as the hero in this movie which will cast him as a TV cameraman. Shwetha Menon, Baburaj, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Manian Pillai Raju and Tini Tom are the other lead players of the movie, which is said to be a malayalee version of Jim Carrey's 'The Truman Show' which was originally planned to be made with Mohanlal as the hero.
Based on a story by the director himself, Sunny Joseph and Manuel George adds their share of inputs in the scripting department of the movie. The movie will feature eight songs by Beeyar Prasad and Murukan Kattakada set to music by Sharath. Vinod Illampally has been in charge of the camera department. The movie 'Thatsamayam Oru Penkutty' produced by Reel to reel cine productions will get to theatres in a month.
