Having released 'Pedda Puli' with a LIVE performance on Friday night, the makers of 'Chal Mohana Ranga' talk about the unique place of the song in the culture of Telangana. "A Telangana folk song performed by various folk artists during Bonalu festival, it poetically explains the heroic deeds of Gandi Maisamma, one of the famous Goddesses of the state," they say.
Director Krishna Chaitanya wanted to reimagine it in a new context for his film 'Chal Mohan Ranga', the entertainer that sees the coming together of Pawan Kalyan Creative Works and Trivikram Srinivas with Sreshth Movies for Nithiin. A beautiful seasonal love story, the aforementioned song is for the hero's intro situation.
"Hero introduction songs are always done keeping the fans in mind and this being Nithiin's 25th movie, the director has come up with this thought and blended it so well with the situation. The song takes off when the hero gets his US visa clearance and is on a high. And it being Bonalu time, he breaks into Pedda Puli," the makers reveal.
"Sahithi's knowledge of the Telangana dialect and culture has only helped. As for Thaman, he marshaled various kinds of drums to get the folk tunes right. The number showcases the culture and the tradition of the song," the makers add.
Producer N Sudhacar Reddy brought in various kinds of folk performers so that the recreation of the Bonalu song goes well. Sekhar VJ has choreographed it.
Why Rahul Sipligunj to croon it? "He is a new-found Telugu folk singer and has taken the audience by a surprise," the director says.
The film's story is by Trivikram and it will hit the screens on April 5.
