Lagadapati Rajagopal today held a press meet to express doubts over the December Assembly election results in Telangana. He began saying that the Election Commission took so much time to even reveal the polling percentage. As per different news reports, the percentage kept on increasing from 67% to 73.20% in a matter of hours after the polling process ended.

"We are living in the electronic age. Why did it take about 1.5 days for the EC to reveal the polling percentage? At some places, there was a mismatch between what the VVPAT registered compared to the votes cast using EVMs. The campaigning had seen the influence of money like never before in Telangana," Lagadapati said.

"In the recent Panchayat polls, the strength of the opposition grew up exponentially. It should have been a washout for the opposition. I wanted to talk only after due diligence. I never succumb to any pressures. I am fiercely independent. My conscience is clear," he added.

"It's stunning that some Congress heavyweights lost in the elections. The EC has to remove all doubts over the election process. It's not good for these doubts to persist," Lagadapati said.
