That day, I understood pain of Muslims: Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan was in Kakinada on Tuesday. The Jana Sena held an outreach programme to reach out to the Muslim community.

Speaking there, Pawan recounted an incident that happened way back in 2001. "I was in Los Angeles when the Twin Towers were being attacked on September 11, 2001. A woman came to me and asked me if I am a Muslim. I had a beard at that time. She thought I must be a Muslim. I told her I am not. I told her I am from India and have nothing to do with the terror attacks. Yet, she persisted with her claim. She told me she was overcome with grief that her son was stuck in the Twin Towers. Just because ten Muslims attacked America, how can anybody stigmatize a whole community? That day, I understood the pain of being stigmatized as a Muslim," Power Star said.

Pawan added that radicals are there in every community. He also opined that he doesn't like calling Muslims as minorities since they are very key to the development of the country.
