Krithi Shetty is looking at making a mark with ‘Uppena’, which will hit the screens on February 12. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the romantic-action drama is produced by Mythri Movie Makers’ Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni.
In her latest interview, the budding actress talks about the experience of acting in her maiden venture, the best moments, her interests and more.
Background
I hail from a Kannada family. And I have grown up in Mumbai. I have acted in commercials before bagging my first film. In fact, acting was not my priority ever. I was studying Psychology when ‘Uppena’ came my way. I decided to take the plunge because I totally loved the story. Acting in films is different from doing ads, which are completed in a day’s time.
Method acting
I am a method actor because I listen to a sad song when I have to act in a sad scene. That way, I try to get into the mood. When I approached the character in ‘Uppena’, I consciously put myself in her shoes. I am bubbly in real life, much like the character. And I am also a single daughter.
Learning Telugu
Listening to the director always interact with me in Telugu, I got a hang of the language on the sets of ‘Uppena’. Given that I had no acting training beforehand, it took time for me to deliver long lines.
Memorable incident
The day when cinematographer Shamdutt Sainuddin and others broke into tears after I did a scene is the most memorable one for me.
Working with co-stars
Vijay Sethupathi sir has delivered a top-notch performance. As for Vaisshnav Tej, he is so simple and is a pleasure to work with. He is a brilliant performer who can uplift his co-stars’ performances as well.
An emotional story
‘Uppena’ is packed with powerful lines and a touching story. I am confident that the dialogues will strike the right chord with the audience. Added to it, Devi Sri Prasad garu’s music will be at another level. I am fortunate that he composed the music for my very maiden venture.
Inspirations
Sridevi and Samantha Akkineni have inspired me a lot. Coming to ‘Uppena’, I am joyous that Chiranjeevi garu spoke about me on the stage during the pre-release event.
