Harshvardhan and Anil Kapoor starrer crime thriller 'Thar' is just a few days away from its release now. Judging by its trailer, the film will revolve around a bunch of intriguing and mysterious characters in a small town in western Rajasthan during 80s. It is evident that visual style and cinematography of the film borrow a lot from cowboy movies of 1960s and director Raj Singh Chaudhary admitted that in a recent media interaction.
"I never knew I’ll be making a film which is very Clint Eastwood," he told PTI. Raj further shared how his film will show an image of Rajasthan which is significantly different than what we usually see in Bollywood. He stated, "As a child, I used to visualise from a mountain top that a horse would come and stand and there’s a cowboy… I didn’t want to make Thar into a run-of-the-mill story. I have been a fan of the Western genre from my childhood. The Rajasthan that I belong to wasn’t the Rajasthan of palaces and sand dunes."
Raj further added, "My Rajasthan is the one with the mountains and that is very similar to the ones that we see in the Western films. The local population with sunburnt faces, stained teeth, moustaches, scraggy beards… all that is very similar to those films."
'Thar' is set to release on 6th of May exclusively on Netflix.
