Top heroes getting huge salaries is often cited as one of the main causes for various problems plaguing the Tamil film industry. However veteran producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu who has always done films with top heroes as well as new comers refutes this argument . 

Not just defending the top heroes for the sake of it, Thanu cites a few instances of today's top most heroes- Vijay and Ajith-voluntarily coming forward to help the producers whenever a dire situation arises 

In his exclusive interview to IndiaGlitz, Thanu recounted the instances where Vijay tried to help him out during the making of films. Thanu said during 'Theri' when the production cost went way above the projection, Vijay offered to reduce his salary however Thanu refused to accept that proposal. 

The producer also recounted that Vijay spent his own money during a schedule in Switzerland for 'Thuppakki' and he paid back the actor afterwards. 

Thanu also pointed out that Ajith acting in three films back to back ('Arrambam', 'Yennai Arindhaal' and 'Vedalam') for producer A.M.Ratnam.
