Any Mohanlal film arouses plenty of expectation. But when he has joined hands with a serious director like Blessy, who made the critically acclaimed Kazhcha,then the same expectation is bound to be higher.
And it is so for Tanmatra. It is a brooding `investigation' into a moody mind.
It is about Ramesh (Mohanlal), a middle class worker at the Secretariat. His family comprises his wife, a plus two studying son and a girl aged 9.
Ramesh, who was first engaged to his cousin, ends up another woman due to some misunderstanding within the family. But he has no regrets in life.
Yet, the cloistered life within the confines of government office and government quarters takes a toll on him and tells on his relationships with his family members.
The relationship angles especially between Ramesh and his father and his children are the focus.
For Mohanalal, after the success of Naran, this is yet another challenging venture.
The film also has Jagathy, Poojappura Radhakrishnan in the cast.
Meera Vasudev plays the wife of Mohanlal. She is naturally thrilled about landing herself such a big role. Arjun and Niranjana play the roles of the duo's children.
Kaithapuram has penned the lyrics while the music director is Mohan Sithara. Sethu Sriram wields the camera and Century Films has produced the film.
For Blessy, this is yet another chance to prove his credentials as a serious and sensitive director.
The film will release next month.
