It was unthinkable just a few days ago. The vast Telugu film industry never had a mechanism in place to address the problem of sexual harassment of women members/employees/artists/others. It now has got one. And that's because of Sri Reddy's fight against casting couch.
On Thursday evening, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce announced that it's taking cognizance of the enormity of the issue of sexual exploitation. So, in tune with the Supreme Court's Visakha Guidelines, TFCC has decided to install an institutional mechanism in place.
"The Chamber, as an umbrella body, takes the responsibility of ensuring the implementation of the Visakha Guidelines, and make mandatory the establishment of CASH (Committee Against Sexual Harassment) in production houses," the concerned authorities said in a statement.
A sexual harassment redressal panel, which will comprise of members from TFPC, MAA, and Telugu Film Employees Federation, will also be in place. Experts from different domains will be represented by the TFEF.
