After being with so many new generation stuffs for some time, director V K Prakash is back with a movie `Thankyou'  that is a differently made emotional thriller. Once again he has the support of his favourite star ,jayasuriya, to don a character, a little older than he is is ,as a lone crusader fighting in his style against the odds.

The movie has Jayasuriya as an nameless protagonist with a simple look and a French cut , using police wireless sets to issue bomb threats. He first announces one in a city school which the policemen successfully diffuse. He moves around in an auto and the later make calls about one planted on a restaurant which  turns out to be a hoax . As the city police is after him to find clues, there are enough cat and mouse games before he finally emerges in the open to announce himself.

The movie visibly inspired from the gems like `A Wednesday' did work a little   because of its fine story telling methods by V K P and the scribe Arunlal. The suspense that is spot on from the very first sequences did translate for an interesting watch till the end of the first half. But the second half is tad heavy with many serious issues bombarded around. This preachy hour with uninteresting rhetoric about the crippled administration and society takes the pace out of the movie. `Thankyou'  is a bit out of track here, though it bounces back to wind up well. Had Arunlal could have been a little cautious enough with more impressive dialogues and some sequences in the later half, `Thankyou' could have done much good for its producer Marikkar films, who is on a  comeback trail.

Jayasuriya is in another interesting role in Thankyou. So is Sethu as the police commissioner, who is on an impressive debut. Among others in the cast lines  Honey Rose hasn't got much more to do. The rest including  Tini Tom, Mridul Nair, Aishwarya Devan, Sudheer Karmana, Saiju Kurup, P Balachandran, and  Mukundan were ok in their roles. The technical sides, a usual in a VKP film was finer with Aravind Krishna using the best of the original locales of the capital city. Music and BGM by Bijipal was also effective.

Though with little shortcomings,' Thankyou' is a worth watch, if you have not got a habit of drawing parallels with many previous films. Recommended for a watch, for the noble purpose behind the endeavour.
