Director Ram's 'Taramani' is turning out to be one of the critically acclaimed hit films of the year. The film had Andrea and debutant Vasanth Ravi playing the lead roles while there were various other small characters and each of them made an impact in the film and also contributed to the travel of the story. One such character that appears in just one lengthy scene, but creates a important turn in the script is the character of the wife of the Police Commissioner character played by Producer J.Sathish Kumar.
The character did not even have a name to convey that she was often left alone by her husband thwarting her to establish her own identity. Staying alone at home with books as her sole companion, she suffers from the insult, apathy, ignorance, emptiness and suspicion of her husband. All these sufferings of the character was effectively conveyed Lisy Antony, who played the role.
Lisi is an Anglo Indian and she works in Shipping industry. Quite opposite to her character in the film. Lisi is sailed across various countries in real lief as part of her profession.
Lisa says director Ram is her friend after she returned to India. The director offered her a role in his National award winning film 'Thanga Meenkal'. In that film she played the role of Stella teacher who often scolds and punishes the daughter of Ram. After that film fetched her a recognition within the film industry. Lisy acted in over 15 films in minor roles.
When Ram offered her a role in 'Taramani' she accepted it without a second thought. She says Ram has the ability to make each and every character in his films notable by audience and critics. She reveals that her scene in 'Taramani' was shot in a house in Chennai for seven days. "Ram did not allow me to use glycerine and I had to weep naturally in that scene. .
She further adds that "Ram makes everyone in the shooting spot feel at home and it was a memorable experience working in the film."
About the film, Lisy says "Ram has spoken about the problems and pains suffered by women in this society. He has dealt with many issues that will not be touched by others. In this film he has spoken as the voice of the soul of every woman and as one among them, I endorse his voice."
Lisy's upcoming films are Ram's 'Peranbu', 'Soo Mandhirakali', 'Pariyerum Perumal' directed by Maari Selvaraj and produced by Pa.Ranjith and a film directed y 'Moodar Koodam' cinematographer Tony.
