Thamizh Padam Music Review

Scoring music for an album that aims to make a spoof at the industry is no easy. But newcomer Kannan has taken the challenge well to deliver what his team had wanted him to do.

A man with decade long experience in scoring music for jingles, Kannan has come up with some interesting songs in `Thamizh Padam', that provide joy and laughter to the listeners.

Produced by Why Not for Dayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies, `Thamizh Padam' directed by C S Amudhan features Siva, Disha Pandey, `Venniradai' Murthy, M S Baskar, Manobala and others.

It's three cheers to Kannan who has amazed all with his splendid work.

Singer: Mukesh

Having said that this film is a spoonful of spoof, what else but can we expect a number loaded with parody. Not leaving out any colours, the lyricist Chandru has made some fun using colours with his lyrics. With peppy rap and racy interludes by Kannan, the song is interesting to listen to. Mukesh deserves a pat for giving life to the number with his voice.

2. O Maha Zeeya - Listen here

Singer: Hariharan, Swetha Mohan

It is a song that aroused great curiosity even before the album was released. It was said that this number can neither be remixed in future nor can be sung again by Hariharan himself. Yes of course. Listen to the song and you will endorse it. A hilarious number with funny lyrics from several earlier numbers that topped the charts make up this song. Hariharan and Swetha sing it with utmost sincerity. You would laugh as u listen the song.

3. Kuthu Vilakku - Listen here

Singer: Ujjaini

Penned by debutant Thiyaru, the song is predominantly a racy number rendered by young Ujjaini. Amazing use of veena and other stringed instruments coupled with peppy beats, the song is interesting and hilarious. Kannan's expertise in working for advertisement jingles seems to has come to the fore.

4. Oru Sooravali - Listen here

Singer: Shankar Mahadevan

Supposedly a funny intro song. The vibrant voice of Shankar Mahadevan singing some rib tickling lyrics but with utmost seriousness is a treat. The racy beats and loud instruments make the number an interesting listening. Kudos to Kannan for the song.

5. Theme Music - Listen here

A film that makes merry spoofing on cinema without hurting anyone's intentions should carry a pleasant but sweet theme music. Kannan has proved his mettle here rendering a fusion of guitar, drums and other stringed instruments.

To sum it up, Kannan seems to have announced his arrival with a bang. All songs are noteworthy and interesting to listen to. Hope director Amudhan can film them at his best to make the right impact.
