Thamizh Padam
'Tamil Padam', the first full-length spoof on Tamil cinema is ready at last. After kindling enough curiosity with promos, the final product will hit the screens soon.
Produced by Dayanidhi Alagiri for Cloud Nine Movies, the film is directed by C S Amudhan, an ad-filmmaker. It has 'Mirchi' Siva, Disha Pandey, 'Vennira Aadai' Murthy, Manobala and M S Bhaskar in lead roles.
"The movie is a celebration of Tamil cinema. We are not intended to hurt anyone. Enough care has been taken to ensure that the audience should have a hearty laugh while watching Tamil Padam," says the young producer.
Echoing him is the director. He says: "I grew up watching movies. When I wanted to make a film on films, Dayanidhi readily came forward to produce it. The output is awesome."
On the movie, he says, "Siva is playing a college student. The character names of 'Venniradai' Murthy, Manobala and M S Bhaskar are Bharath, Siddharth and Nakul respectively. These veterans too are playing college goers."
He adds: 'Siva has imitated many top actors of Tamil film industry in his own way. When we were shooting a Bharatanatyam dance sequence, Siva's performance literally made a classical dance exponent to leave the sets. However, without losing the spirit, Siva somehow managed to complete the scene well."
On his part, Siva says, "Everything in the film from its posters, promotions to the songs and dialogues is an absolute lampoon which is sure to tickle the funny bones."
Music composer Kannan has come up with some interesting songs in `Tamil Padam', that provides joy and laughter to the listeners. A number 'Oh Maga Zeeya...' has popular words like Lalakku Dol Dapi Ma, Hasili Fisili, Nakku Mukka, Mukkabula, Randakka, Balelaka and many more filling the whole song with the sweet voices of Hariharan and Swetha Mohan.
Hopes are high on 'Tamil Padam' not just for those involved in the film but for movie-buffs too. Let's hope the comedy caper tickle well the funny bones of the audience.
