Thambivudayan, a film on the Cauvery issue, which was denied a certificate by the regional censor board, has finally been granted one by the revising committee in New Delhi. The authorities concerned have ordered for cuts in 45 places in the film.

The movie directed by Raja Mahesh features Newcomers Adhithya and Manisha Chatterjee in lead roles. Shravan has scored the music. Produced by Maheswari Raja and Agneeshwar Anbu, the movie speaks of water woes in Thanjavur and its adjoining areas.

Says Raja Mahesh, water is a distant dream for several thousand people living in Thanjavur and its adjoining areas. Not just agriculture but also the routine life of men are badly affected here.

On being given 45 cuts by the revising committee, the director says, we have to accept it with heavy heart. The essence and purpose of the movie is diluted. But I should respect the hard work put in by the people involved in the making of the movie.

The movie is about a youth, who decides to wage a battle seeking water for his region. We shot the movie in several areas adjoining Thanjavur. Coming to know about the theme of the movie, people gathered in large numbers to encourage us to shoot the movie in their area. They gave us good co-operation, he adds.
